Whenever I tell new friends or coworkers that I’m vegan, they’re usually surprised. “But you don’t seem like a vegan!” Good, let’s keep it that way. And please, don’t tell anyone. I’m not yet ready to reveal my vegan identity to the world! But seriously, although I have been vegan for about six years, I don’t turn my plant-based diet into a personality trait. I don’t shun others who eat meat in front of me, and I don’t try to convert my non-vegan friends into devoted herbivores. But it does make me happy when I take my friends out to some of my favorite vegan restaurants, and they actually end up enjoying their meal.
